  • Tim Howard had some pointed things to say about American players going home: “Too many U.S. players do that. When the going gets tough, the manager changes, they get taken out of the team and they hit a low. The first instinct is to go back to America. That is why most U.S. players fail. I was always going to make it here.”

  • Grant Wahl's feature in Sports Illustrated about DeAndre Yedlin, Julian Green and John Brooks is worth your while.

  • As ASN’s “23 For January Camp” series continues, Jermaine Jones should be a shoo-in. Experimenting with the 33-year-old at center back could pay dividends for the team.

  • Harry Shipp took the ASN questionnaire.

  • Good piece on concussions in soccer. Brandi Chastain: “We want our legacy to the game to be more than just the one created by our feet. We hope to do that by making the game safer for soccer players who may never play in a World Cup but want to enjoy the game for years to come.”

  • Happy Boxing Day everyone.
