Versatile, pacey players; Young & Old. Not sure how Dempsey will be used by this time next year, but we can def use his grit, attitude, & veteran savvy. Altidore & Wood are obvious. I believe in giving Agudelo chances, so he beats out Boyd. Sorry, but Sargent & Haji won't quite be ready yet. Arriola cancels out Morris & Bedoya at the same time. No room for Dwyer. Saief would likely be in the mix, but I have no idea who I'd drop (probably Hyndman). Would love it if a kid like Gyau would bounce back & surprise the hell out of everyone too. Lletget & Acosta over Danny Williams was a REALLY tough call. Just feel as though Danny wouldn't be needed as much for this specific team. Lletget gets the nod for his versatility. Lynden Gooch, well, because I think Lynden Gooch is great & would already be deserving of regular status on the squad, if not for injuries this season. With him & Lletget, we have the bonus of having versatility in the midfield, as they can both play out wide or centrally (as can Pulisic & Nagbe). Hope that Hyndman & Miazga can both have first seasons in top flight football that will have them ready to take this step & be integrated into the squad (leapfrogging Feilhaber & Ream respectively). Nagbe needed at this point & should be relied upon as a key member of the team. Huge Jermaine fan, but 2017 has brought his end. Bradley the #6, with Acosta, Lletget, & Cameron all able to back him up in a bind. Fabian has been on the decline for USMNT since Brazil, but I figure you still bring him & possibly go back to deploying him at fullback again even, given our newfound options in the midfield. Versatility of players at other positions enables us to bring only 3 full-time fullbacks, as both Fabian & Cameron can play there if need be (as well as Lichaj being able to play on either the left or right). A year ago, I would've had Lichaj as the possible starter on the left, but Villafana looks comfortable there for now, & Lichaj can be useful as a back-up on either side. Finally giving up on Chandler. As good of a season as he had in Germany, just has not been able to bring it to the USMNT, & we have other guys who will finally have been given chances. Cameron, Brooks, & I'm even gonna say Gonzo, all obvious. Howard the obvious #1 still in goal. That never should've changed. Honestly have no idea how to decide between Hamid, Horvath, & Jesse Gonzalez for the 3rd keeper.
