I feel like the USMNT finally has its back line figured out with Villafana-Brooks-Cameron-Yedlin. I think this is our best back four yet, with Bradley holding a defensive mid position. Starting wings: Johnson and Wood. Two attacking mids: Pulisic and Nagbe. One striker: Altidore. Essentially a 4-3-2-1 defensively, and a 4-1-4-1 (or 4-1-3-2) offensively, depending on the attack. This would rely on the creativity and space management of the attacking mids, Nagbe and Pulisic. They would need to develop a chemistry, and learn to use Altidore as more of a target-man than a true striker. However, if they miscommunicate, overload the attack, etc., then this formation may leave us very susceptible to counter-attacks. But I think these two young and intelligent players are up to the task. Other peculiarities about my roster is the inclusion of Benny Feilhaber. He's been passed over it seems, and is on the older side, but I think he is still one of the most creative American attacking mids, still has some quickness, and would create opportunities up top coming off the bench. Plus, I just love his energy and cocky attitude- very American. I want to see more of that in my team. Also, Julian Green-- no particular reason other than I like to see young talent get a chance to live up to their hype, give him some caps.
