The importance of closing space on the wings against Portugal can't be understated. It will take a team effort to close down the likes of Ronaldo and Nani. The US will need creativity up from, which Diskerud can give along with Zusi, Bedoya, and Dempsey. In fact, with Bedoya's great defensive capabilities it might be him on the right and Zusi on the left. Either way, this formation allows Bradley to revert back to possibly his strongest position and help contain Ronaldo. I could also see a straight 4-3-3 with Jones, Bradley, Beckerman across the middle of the pitch and Bedoya, Dempsey, Zusi up top. (This might actually be my preference.)
