I started off with the team I thought Klinsi was going to pick, but then I thought why not actually put together a team that would make ME happy for once.
Up top we have a solid veteran group and I'm excited to see those attacking mids work together. Mix's creativity with Donovan's intelligence should be fun to watch. I'd also be psyched if Magee got the chance to start instead of Johnson and imagine the interplay would be even better with that setup. Tough call.
I think it would be cool to have Becks and Gill start next to each other. Let Becks play his regular international team #6 role and give Gill the chance to give his best Michael Bradley impression. It can only help the kid improve by asking him to expand his game by adding some extra defensive responsibilities. As a RBNY fan not putting Dax in this lineup feels terrible but he doesn't have the attacking prowess necessary to create chances at the MLS level, let alone for the national team.
As for the back line, no more Brad Evans at RB please. Don't care if it's Yedlin, Klute, or whoever, just as long as it's someone who actually plays the position and has the ability to get forward a little.
I personally like Goodson over Gonzo and think he's much better with the ball at his feet. Sinovic gets the LB position almost by default, and Besler and Rimando retain their traditional starting positions.
I feel like this lineup is a step up in quality from the "B team" of the Gold cup and would let some young guys gain experience while also getting some key parts of the WC stating 11 some time to gel. Lets go USA!
