Johannsson has been in superb form as of late for AZ Alkmaar and deserves the start. Core players like Howard, Jones, Bradley, Altidore will naturally start. With Donovan and Fabian Johnson out, the team is without a natural left winger other than Brek Shea. Klinsmann will not put in Shea, placing Johnson in a converted left midfield position where he has had some success with the national team. Why bring in Lichaj without giving him a direct run? He gets the nod for right back. Also, young talent John Brooks excites many fans, and Klinsmann will want to see how he plays and reacts with the first team. Success at Nantes, paired with the absence of both Donovan and Zusi, warrants Bedoya's chance to start in the right midfield position
