I'll work from the bottom up. GK - Howard's selection is obvious. Until he dips in form, Guzan will remain the number 2.
DEF - Everyone has been calling for Lichaj so lets throw him into the fray and see how he does. His roster inclusion is merely to cover for Castillo. Jurgen will probably start Evans at RB so this is wishful thinking. But hey, call me crazy for actually wanting to experiment. Cameron and Brooks are a great cb pairing and I'm not sure why others don't see this. Both have pace, both can pass well out of the back, and both play in the two leagues in the world. Despite what people think, Cameron and Brooks played very well together against Bosnia. Fabian Johnson is one of the best attacking options we have. He is also the only serviceable LB. With my LM choice it will give Fabian tons of opportunities to overlap.
MF - Clint has dipped in form to say the least. He is still the captain according to Klinsmann though. Seeing as we have no other options and we have a better option at his usual CF position, Clint will have to go back to his Fulham days and play LM. Lets see if he can still take on a defender and run his ass ragged for the team. Jones and Bradley. Not much to discuss here. Not the ideal pairing but the best option we have. Without LD or any other wide players, Bedoya gets the start at RM. I personally don't like him but playing in France does give him a little bit of a jump on the rest of our guys.
ATT - Ice Bacon is lighting it up in Holland similar to how Jozy did last year. With his first USMNT goal under his belt expect to see a lot more confidence from the young striker. Many would expect Dempsey to have this spot but Aron is the better option. He can create much better than Dempsey, and come WC time I hope he is starting with Jozy. This means they need some games to mesh together. Jozy as the lone striker no one can dispute. Even at the black hole that is Sunderland, Jozy is arguably playing the best football for the club. His hold up play has been excellent and with a bit of actual service the goals will come.
This isn't the perfect lineup but all things considered, we could do a lot worse.
