A bit of a look to the future. Donovan's best MLS form has come while playing as a striker and the US is slowly producing midfielders and wide players who can take up the positions we once needed Donovan to fill. As a striker he plays where he is most dangerous to the opposition (ask Scotland). Dempsey is the playmaker and his support in the attacking line comes from the pacey Josh Gatt and the emerging, clever creative midfielder Graham Zusi. The holding midfielders are the dynamic Michael Bradley and the efficient Danny Williams. The back four, also looking to the future, is a mixture of pace, power, and creativity that the US needs going forward. The goalkeeper, as always, is Tim Howard.
