I think the 4-2-3-1 formation would work well for the US because we have a lot of attacking options. The holding midfielders will bolster us defensively, but they are also great at going forward when the time is right, especially Bradley, who is dangerous in the attacking 3rd. Donovan and Dempsey are proven effective attackers with Boyd becoming a promising young striker. I have Kljestan is the middle because his distribution and creativity are excellent. This formation also offers the versatility to switch to a 4-4-2 if the lone striker proves ineffective, by pushing Dempsey or Donovan up top and subbing Bradley Kljestan or Williams for a winger.
