With a veteran-packed starting lineup, this U.S. team has full potential to compete in Brazil in 2014. Shea and Onyewu bring athleticism and technical ability to a notoriously known weak back line. Experienced players such as Beasley and Cherundolo have the ability to move up in the attack and send in quality crosses which could potentially end up in the back of the net. Bradley has become the backbone in the U.S. midfield since he has been 20 years old, and he continues to be one of the most solid midfielders in the Serie A. Clark's strength to win 50/50's brings power to the midfield and provides the Americans with more opportunities at possession. Considered to be the most dangerous attacking forces on the U.S. side, Dempsey and Donovan provide experience and energy to combine with the midfield and forward to create opportunities at goal. Adu provides the flair and creativity that the Americans have been searching for in a player for so long. He has the ability to combine with many different attacking members of the American side in a unique and unpredictable way. The American game will look much more attractive if Adu is implemented in the lineup, compared to the usual awkard-staggeredness which is displayed by the starting 11. Lastly, although he has yet to prove his effectiveness on the U.S. side, Altidore has the ability to score goals in various ways, and his physical presence up front can cause trouble for opposing central defenders in future matches.
