Well I chose 4-4-2 set because the United States Strength comes within the midfield play. The U.S. has a strong Midfield which comes with the strength of holding the ball and play making ability. There are few great US forwards but I went with current play and youth. The defense was a very hard choice because there are many choices from veteran players to up and coming future stars in the defense. First I will explain the Forwards that I chose. Forwards: Terrence Boyd and Jozy Altidore; Not only do these forwards bring youth and speed to the U.S. game but they also bring STRENGTH which the U.S. really lacks sometimes. Both players are above 6ft and have incredible ball control and play making ability. I could have also went with players such as Hercules Gomez, Juan Aguedelo or even Brek Shea but I went for size and overall talent. Next the Incredible Midfield play that makes this U.S. team run. Midfielders: Clint Dempsey, Micheal Bradley, Stuart Holden, and the GREAT Landon Donovan; This was a tough decision but I think the right one for the current teams needs. Dempsey and Donovan bring amazing play making ability, experience, and pure raw american toughness. Dempsey and Donovan also bring the ability to push forward and score goals on the outside wings. The 2 center midfielders I chose because of their ability to see upcoming plays and possession of the ball. Bradley comes with great leadership, strength, the ability to go forward or back, and great DECISION making. Stuart Holden was a tough pick for the final stop because he is constantly injured but when healthy he is up to par with some of the greatest midfielders in the world. He can pass, push, and see things other Americans can't. If he stays healthy he could be great. Next will be the U.S. Stable house, the Defense. Defenders: Geoff Cameron, Fabian Johnson, Omar Gonzalez, and Jermaine Jones. The defense was the hardest part of putting this whole team together. The easy pics were Cameron, Gonzalez, and Johnson. They all bring different dynamics which include, speed, size, tackling, youth, and aerial attacking prowess. The last, but not least U.S. defender was the toughest choice of all. I could have went with Steve Cherundolo, Carlos Bocanegra, Timmy Chandler, or Danny Williams, but I went with Jermaine Jones. With a mixture of youth and experience to choose from I went with smart and defensive play. Usually used as a defensive midfielder, I chose Jones because he does play defense and he loves it but also because he can still push forward and has enough speed to keep up with those quick forwards the World comes with. And finally Goalkeeper. The protector of the net and OUR Statement Maker. Goalkeeper: Tim Howard; Tim Howard is probably the best goal keeper in the world when he is healthy and in game shape. He stops everything and is the heart of the U.S National Team. An OBVIOUS Choice. And I will take it a Step Further and picking subs. Top 7 U.S. Subs GK- Brad Guzan DEF- Timmy Chandler DEF- Steve Cherundolo MID- Freddy Adu MID- Graham Zusi MID/FWD-Brek Shea FWD- Juan Aguedelo Last 3 Not Chosen: DEF- Gale Abossomounde MID- Maurice Edu FWD-Hercules Gomez
