4-2-3-1 puts our best talent on the field in the positions they are meant to play. None of this nonsense where we are playing Jermaine Jones or Herculez Gomez out wide. Our strength is in the central midfield with 2 solid defensive midfielders in Bradley and Jones. They will go box to box and control the tempo. Dempsey will get to play his attacking midfield role and not worry about defense since he hardly does anymore anyways. He will create chances and play right off of Altidore's hip and provide him with the service he desperately needs to start scoring for the USMNT. The back 4 is self explanatory. Besler and Gonzalez proved themselves against Mexico. Fabian Johnson is the clear starter at LB. Chandler is a bit iffy. I could go with a healthy Cherundolo or Geoff Cameron here too but Chandler is the best option in terms of talent, athleticism and contributes to the attack more. Winger is our weakness here with aging Donovan and Beasley but Beasley is reemerging and played well in the last 2 qualifiers out of position. I would reward him with a chance to prove himself in his natural position. Donovan just needs to sack up. If these 2 are playing well I think this lineup is by far our best option.
