Donovan is an automatic starter when healthy, and gives the US the heady possibility of combination between him and Fabian Johnson on the left. Zusi gets the nod over Bradley only because of Bradley's form and health issues. Dempsey could easily play up top with Altidore, but he's better slightly further away from goal. Williams has shown he can handle the #6 role and is better on the ball/less of a card concern than other options. The backline practically picks itself.
