One can not make a USMNT and not put Howard as keeper. That's all I'm saying for Tim. As for the defense, I think this line is one of the strongest we've had in years. Johnson has really come into his own, especially during games in which Boca and Cherundolo aren't playing. As for those two veterans: they're solid and work fluidly with each other. By bringing in Cameron, that adds another level to the attacking aspect of the defense; he's able to get up the field nicely and is a huge asset to the American defense. Up to the Defensive Midfield: Bradley. Michael Bradley has showcased his talent brilliantly in the past year under Klinsmann and his steady play in Italy is consistently helping his case for being in the starting XI. He's able to be the playmaker, supporter and striker. Total package for the midfield. The Offensive Midfield is stacked to say the least: Donovan, Zusi and Dempsey. Donovan is an obvious choice while Zusi has wowed not only the American public with his skills, but the soccer community with his calm and collected, and fierce, style of play. As for Dempsey, last season saw him stand atop the list of the most goals by an American in the EPL. He also netted the game winner for Tottenham while playing at Old Trafford - the first time the Spurs had beaten Manchester United since 1989. Dempsey's moniker precedes him - The Deuce is loose. Finally our Forwards: Altidore and Gomez. If someone said they were not impressed by this attacking duo, call them crazy. Gomez is a passionate, driven player. He takes his time and is able to spot great inroads to the goal that some forwards wouldn't dare try. Gomez has a knack for getting the ball to his feet and firing away. As for Altidore, Jozy has highlighted his attacking prowess this season by already scoring 8 goals in competition. He just needs to translate his AZ success into the USMNT. Substitutes: Williams, Boyd, Kljestan. (And Holden once he's not injured.) Obviously this is not a perfect team, but it could work out incredibly well.
