This formation allows for the US best players to play in their most comfortable positions. Bradley deserves to be playing further up the field. His close control, passing, and deceptively great finishing abilities will be used best further then a holding mid. Williams spot would be employed by Stuart Holden if he comes back to full strength, but Jones and Edu both have proved liabilites here. The plethora of outside backs allows Johnson to be more of an attacking threat with his pace and quick feet. Lichaj is showing that he is a great attacking back that will soon take over for the aging Cherundolo. A new CB needs to be found to pair with Cameron. That man should be Gonzalez. Gooch, Goodson and crew are too inconsistent. Dempsey will play more behind Altidore who has to find his form for country again other wise a rising Boyd or always active Gomez could fill in just as well. Zusi has shown that he is leading candidate for the right flank. Brek Shea needs to be more consistent to earn a starting spot. He should keep his eye on what Josh Gatt and Joe Gyau are up too though as they are finally seeing first team minutes too. Howard still proves to be best American keeper for the time being.
