Lets keep in mind, we are wanting/asking these players to play a possession/attacking style of soccer. With that being said, It is important to have speed up top to unlock boxed in teams. This front has the pace to slice through the middle or attack out wide, important that this is noted. The midfield I have chosen, shows that these players are capable of protecting the ball and help keep possession. This midfield shows they can threaten with their passing abilities. You can have them track back and potentially win the ball back, the importance is they have ball skills to help with the attack, which the #USMNT have lacked. I have confidence in this group of midfielders to interchange and help protect the ball. For Dmids, their main priority is to help with defense and win the ball back, but it has been proven that protecting the ball and making threatening passes. For the backline, you expose the skills of the backline while playing attacking soccer. They need to be more skilled on the ball, while having defensive skills. You have to have pace also, because Jurgen Klinsmann stated he wanted to play a highline proactive backline. Besler is capable of passing out of the back and have composure on the ball, his athletic ability is the one to watch for. The wild card is Hamid, I have seen him get sent off more times than any of the other GK's. I like Hamid over Johnson (not opposed to either) for his instinctive saving ability, but needs more experience to grow. Its important to understand that growing youth and providing experience for them is essential for the next level, this also shows their talents, someone is watching.
