I tried to stick with players who played significant minutes for the USMNT in 2012 and had success in those minutes.
Gomez was our best forward in 2012 (unless you consider Dempsey a forward).
I put Dempsey in the midfield on the left, where he can have a free role. Jones, Bradley, and Williams control the central midfield. Zusi on the right needs to continue his strong play from the end of the year.
I feel these defenders played well in 2012. Although Bocanegra may not be a starter by the end of 2013, I think he was one of our best CBs in 2012.
Howard would be a starting GK for many national teams -- we're lucky to have him.
