Dempsey, Bradley and Howard need no explanation. Cherundolo was very underrated. Boca had a solid, if unspectacular year, which is good enough for a bad defense. Johnson was the best defender by far. Zusi, Gomez and Cameron went from the fringe of the team to locks to be on the roster, if not start. Williams finally got to start at his natural spot, and looked really good. Edu had a bad club year, but was a huge factor in the historic wins against Mexico and Italy, and a good sub against Russia. on the bench: Terrence Boyd, Clarence Goodson, Michael Parkhurst, Jermaine Jones, Brek Shea, Jozy Altidore, Landon Donovan
