The thinking is that Altidore generally plays better with a strike partner, but I think best formation for the US is to play a 4231. So Agudelo is able to push forward to help Altidore and Acosta, Klejstan, and Garza can all work together to try to fill that space. Agudelo has said and has shown to be better as a second striker anyways, which this would allow him to do that in a sense.
