This lineup provides balance at the back with three CBs who are good with their feet and strong in the air with Johnson and Yedlin providing cover on the wings and Bradley as a no. 6 shielding role. Jones' role will be as a box-box destroyer and Benny will facilitate the attack. Wood gets the nod over Altidore because of fitness and form. Pulisic thrived up top next to the striker for Dortmund in the Champ. League. Lots of 50/50 battles on this lineup. Klejsten for Benny, Howard for Guzan, Altidore for Wood, Gonzalez or Zimmerman for Birnbaum would all be acceptable. If Yedlin is forced out with injury, Lichaj or Chandler could replace him. (I am personally not a fan of Chandler for the U.S. but credit where credit is due: he has been solid for Frankfurt all season).
