I think it is worth experimenting with Dempsey in a more withdrawn position where he can run at people, make runs into the box and distribute. Obviously, in this formation, he would be the most advanced midfielder, with Bradley lying back to defend and distribute. At times, this would morph into a 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1.
