With two wingbacks in Johnson (if healthy) and Yedlin, the 3-5-2 formation fits this team's strengths. This also solves the issue of too many CBs, not enough FBs...play 3 CBs. Zardes has been giving teams fits, exploiting space and can run ahead of Johnson. Bedoya can also play a more advanced role in the midfield while Williams plays gatekeeper. As much as I hate to admit it, having Dempsey and Altidore up top makes the most sense for this big game. They play well enough off each other. The elephant in the room: Bradley hasn't shown any sort of consistency in the last few months. If he were to play, he would replace Bedoya, but I believe Bedoya is better in the more advanced role.
