I believe this lineup gets all of our best players on the field in positions that aren't shoehorned, and gets the most out of them.
Flat back four, Besler and Omar as the central defenders. They're the most experience centerback tandem and have worked well together. Johnson on the left and Cameron on the right both provide solid defensive cover and can get forward and contribute to the attack. Which is important considering our dearth of natural wing options.
Actually more of diamond midfield. Bradley at the base as a deep lying midfielder. Jones and Bedoya operate as screeners on either side of Bradley a little further up field. Their job is winning the ball back to give Bradley time and space to distribute. Mix would play the 10 roll as the link between midfield and the forwards.
Jozy and Dempsey up top with Jozy as more of the focal point and Dempsey as a floater pulling defenders and creating space and disrupting the box.
