The middle 3 would all play centrally with different roles. Williams would sit back to shield the back 4, Bradley would be a box to box midfielder and Bedoya would act more like a playmaker. Johnson and Rubin would stay up to support Altidore unless the situation called for them to track back. Back 4 self explanatory. For this formation to work, back 4 must be very strong, but this formation plays to the USA's strength of strong central midfielders and young upcoming wide attackers.
