Brad
over 10 years
Here is the starting 11 would like to see rolled out against ABZ. Altidore, Howard, Besler, Dempsey, and Bradley are pretty much self explanitory. Jones is pretty much a lock, but I would really like to see Cameron get some time alongside Bradley in this formation. I think he could be an upgrade over Jones, because he does not have the predilection to make a stupid tackle and get a card. Beckerman could also be an option there, I just do not think he can hang athletically with our group opponents. I think the LB has to be Johnson. Beasley is good in a pinch, but we need to put a player back there who plays in the back day in and day out. I think he is the best players we have for both the left back and left mid, which may force Jurgen to play him in the mid to be more offense. Depends on the game plan I guess. I think with Chandler in the 23 it is between him and Cameron to start at RB and because I would rather have Cameron in the middle that Gonzo, it makes it pretty easy to put Chandler at RB. Chandler also gets forward better than Cameron and is a little faster I think, which bodes better against our group. Cameron is the other CB simply because I do not trust Gonzo. Cameron is better in every respect less the air. I think I would rather have him in there than Gonzo for that alone. add in the mental breakdowns we have seen with Gonzo recently and the choice is even easier to me. The LM is where the big question mark is. Even if Donovan were on teh team, he most likely would not be starting so the issue would persist. If he were 100% fitness wise I think he would be in the 23 and could be deployed here allowing Zusi to move to the right. As it is the only guys who have shown a natural ability to play on left wing is Johnson and Davis. Johnson best spot for us is at LB in my opinion, but Jurgen may put him here because of Beasley. But I discussed that earlier. Davis, in my opinion, is not good enough to play at the international level. Obviously Jurgen believes he is and it is a strong possibility we are gong to see him starting at LM. For me you work Bedoya and Zusi at both wing positions and figure out which one works best at LM. I guess, since he is on the roster, you have to put Green out there and see if he can hold up better than he did against Mexico, given the limited options we have on the left side of the field, both at defense and mid. That is my take for the first warmup game. I, whether starting or not, expect to see Green and Yedlin both getting significant minutes in the warmup games. RAB should also get some opportunities given the situation alongside Besler. Look forward to Tuesday night.
