MEXICO CITY—I arrived in Mexico City late Saturday night but didn't really get a feel for the place in the dark cab ride from Benito Juarez International Airport to my hotel in the Zona Rosa district. I made up for it Sunday, however, squeezing as many sites as possible into my Sunday itinerary before turning my focus to Tuesday's massive game between the United States and Mexico (10:30 Eastern, ESPN) at Estadio Azteca.

The slideshow at right will help set the scene for you, and perhaps even make you feel like you are here—minus the smog (not awful) and high altitude (definitely noticeable after an urban hiking marathon).

American Soccer Now will put you in the middle of the action throughout today, tomorrow, and Wednesday with a nonstop flow of analysis, news, ratings, and that sort of thing. So please check back early and often.

And please don't just be a passive consumer of content. That's so 2011. We created ASN to give you, the U.S. soccer fan, a voice. Yes, we've got tons of articles and slideshows for you to gnaw on, but we want to hear what you have to say on a variety of topics, such as:

  • Our Starting XI tool, which allows you to play Jurgen Klinsmann for a few minutes—selecting formations, dragging and dropping players into position, and sharing your insights across your social graph. What's more, we've just initiated a Starting XI FREE World Cup Contest that will send the best lineup forecaster and a friend to Brazil for the 2014 World Cup, including free lodging for a week, VIP hospitality, and two match tickets. It may sound too good to be true but I assure you it is real. Click here to find out more.

  • We also have the ASN Matrix, an interactive infographic that relies on your participation. It's very cool technology and it takes reader polls to a new dimension.

  • The ridiculously interactive ASN 100 provides in-depth player profiles, noteworthy reads, videos, and stats on the best American soccer players. It also lets you sort and assemble the players via 13 different filters you can control. (Just don't get too depressed when you see how many Yanks rated in the Top 20 are missing for the Mexico match.)

  • Our Hexagonal channel is also interactive. The player profiles, tactical analyses, team histories, and other content are all highly clickable. The Mexico page will make you an expert on El Tri before Tuesday's match.

OK. Time to coffee up and prepare for a day of press conferences, player interviews, and more.
