  • It wasn't pretty but it was effective. The United States U-20 squad defeated Colombia 1-0 in the round of 16 to advance to the quarterfinals of the World Cup. Rubio Rubin had the only goal, which came decidedly against the run of play, but it was a late penalty kick save by Zack Steffen that clinched the win. The Americans play Serbia on Sunday morning. See you then.

  • Oops:
  • Truth:
  • At least one moron thinks Julie Johnston is the key to the United States women's team.

  • People are watching:
  • CONCACAF, now with more chaos

  • The 2026 World Cup bidding process, now with more not gonna happen now: "FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke says it would be 'nonsense' to begin the process now. FIFA planned to write to its 209 member federations this week to explain the bidding timetable and rules. The 2026 host is expected to be chosen by the 209 members at their May 2017 meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia."

  • Oh hey, the U.S. players Germany at 2:45. Go make your Starting XI.
