- It wasn't pretty but it was effective. The United States U-20 squad defeated Colombia 1-0 in the round of 16 to advance to the quarterfinals of the World Cup. Rubio Rubin had the only goal, which came decidedly against the run of play, but it was a late penalty kick save by Zack Steffen that clinched the win. The Americans play Serbia on Sunday morning. FIFA planned to write to its 209 member federations this week to explain the bidding timetable and rules.
