And oh, what a start it's been. Freddy Adu returns to the United States and to a coach he knows and trusts; Giovani Dos Santos moves to Major League Soccer; and a bunch of other things go down.

  • Gio Dos: "Terms of the deal were not announced but a Galaxy official confirmed the Villarreal transfer price at about $7 million. Dos Santos, 26, was reportedly seeking an annual salary close to the $6 million the team is paying former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, who joined the Galaxy last week."

  • The U.S. Senate asked to speak with Sunil Gulati today in Washington D.C. U.S. Soccer sent Dan Flynn instead.

  • Freddy: "Adu, 26, joins the Rowdies in the midst of the NASL's 2015 Fall Season, after departing Finnish side KuPS recently. Adu last played in the US for the Philadelphia Union from 2011-13. He has also signed with teams in Brazil, Serbia, Turkey, Greece, Monaco and Portugal in his career. As his tweet mentions, Adu also reunites with Tampa Bay boss Thomas Rongen, who was US U-20 manager for Adu's stint with that youth national team."
  • Ethan: "Finlay is having a Best XI-caliber season in 2015. He is the MLS leader in assists with 10 and also has five goals—including three goals in his last two games. The Crew has scored 27 goals this season, second best in the league, and Finlay has been involved with 55% of the tallies."

  • Carli: "With her right foot Lloyd launched an angry parabola downfield, and for a moment everything was in slow motion: the arc of the ball, Kaihori’s stumbling retreat and then the goalkeeper’s final desperate lunge as she tipped the ball off her post and into the net."

  • USWNT wins the World Cup and holds up the trophy outtakes. These are great.

  • Cool chart?
  • An excellent point:
