- The U.S. women beat Colombia 2-0 on Monday, advancing to the Women’s World Cup quarterfinals, where they will meet China in a rematch of the 1999 final.
- Megan Rapinoe and Lauren Holiday will miss the quarterfinal due to yellow card accumulation. Abby Wambach is not happy about it: "It seemed like she was purposefully giving those yellows to the players she knew were sitting on yellows.”
- Alex Morgan scored the opener, her first goal of the tournament as she recovers from injury. "I feel better and better each game," Morgan said. "I'm seeing my speed, my change of direction, my shot coming back. It feels good and hopefully in the next games it will feel great."
