  • The U.S. women beat France 2-0 to win the Algarve Cup for the 10th time. Christen Press and Julie Johnston scored and Hope Solo saved a penalty kick in the 81st minute.

  • In Honduras, the U-17s U-17s blew another chance to qualify for the World Cup, losing 1-0 Jamaica in the final group match. It dropped the team from first place in the group, setting up a playoff on Sunday against a TBD opponent.

  • American Soccer Now has learned that Minnesota has emerged as a near-lock to land land one of the two MLS expansion teams that will come after Atlanta and Los Angeles. Announcements are expected to be made within the next two months.
