  • Greg Garza came on as a sub in the 79th minute and scored in the 86th to give Tijuana a 1-0 road win over Monterrey in the first leg of the Liga MX quarterfinals. What a coincidence, we just talked to Greg.

  • Carlos Bocanegra tore his hamstring in the United States' match against Russia on Wednesday night. The American captain will miss six weeks.

  • Brad Guzan got schooled in (what he claims was) his first-ever game of FIFA during a trip to a children’s hospital. And how does virtual Guzan look? “They were a bit generous in the hair department … They gave me more than I actually have! Not that I'm complaining!”

  • AZ technical director Earnie Stewart says the club received a bid for Jozy Altidore over the summer from a “wealthy country in Eastern Europe.” Stewart added that Altidore's scoring prowess in Holland hasn't gone unnoticed by Europe's big boys: "This season, there are often scouts of big clubs such as Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in the AZ grandstand."

  • Juan Agudelo’s agent announced on Twitter that the 19-year-old will train with Celtic during the MLS offseason:
