Jozy Altidore is on fire for AZ Alkmaar—that much we know.
And Clint Dempsey has established himself as a serious threat for Tottenham Hotspur—at least until a calf injury sent him to the sidelines.
Enter (or is re-enter?) Herculez Gomez, the Santos Laguna forward with the tireless workrate and the boundless enthusiasm for the United States national team. Gomez scored two goals Friday night for Santos Laguna, helping his team win 3-1 and helping his cause for securing a starting spot in the U.S.'s crucial World Cup qualifiers later this month.
Here is Gomez' first tally, a nifty, opportunistic strike from the right channel.
His second strike, which put the game away, was either a brilliant move or somewhat lucky. Judge for yourself below.
OK, so you saw both goals. Do you think Gomez deserves to make the squad for the March qualifiers? Should he start up top? We want to hear what you think, so tell us below.
