The five national teams the U.S. faces during the Hexagonal round of World Cup qualifying include players who play outside CONCACAF. You know how the Americans fared abroad each week, but what about the players they’ll be facing? We’ll keep you updated on their progress each week. Also, don’t forget to check out our section dedicated to all things Hex. We’ll focus first on the United States’ next Hex opponents:

Jamaica

First, a salute to Gareth McCleary, Adrian Mariappa, and Jobi McAnuff. The three Jamaicans played for Reading in a miserable, scoreless match against QPR that made both teams’ relegation official. McCleary was subbed out in the 65th minute. The other two played 90 minutes.

After a strong run of form lately, Huddersfield Town is hoping to sign Jermaine Beckford, a Leeds loanee, to a permanent deal if it stays in the Championship. He missed Saturday’s match against Marvin Elliott and Bristol City with a groin strain. Elliott started but made way in the 54th minute with Bristol City trailing by two goals. Bristol ended up losing 3-1. Theo Robinson was an unused Huddersfield sub.

Like Beckford, Jermaine Johnson is named Jermaine, recently scored some goals in the Football League, and missed his team’s match because of a minor injury.

Ricardo Fuller went 79 minutes for Charlton Athletic in a 2-2 draw.

Tremaine Stewart started and played 68 minutes for Aalesund in a 2-1 loss against Valerengen. Demar Phillips is still injured. Jason Morrison, who is not usually called to the Jamaican national team, played the whole match in midfield.

Lloyd Doyley and Watford defeated Leicester City, 2-1. Doyley played the whole match.

Dane Richards made his first start against Bodo/Glimt, but the team's faithful will hope for better results in future appearances. Bryne handed it a 4-0 defeat.

Motherwell had an impressive 3-1 win against already crowned Scottish champions Celtic. Omar Daley wasn’t in the 18.

Luton Shelton hasn’t played since April 1.

Panama

Rolando Escobar scored Deportivo Anzoategui’s lone goal but it didn’t stand with Lara drawing 1-1. He started and came out in the 76th minute. Román Torres returned to Millonarios after serving his red card suspension. The team’s struggles continue, though, with Deportes Quindío fighting to a scoreless draw.

Gabriel Gomez was a 78th-minute substitute for Junior, who shared a point with Deportivo Cali.

Luis Henríquez played the full 90 for Lech Poznan in its 1-0 victory against Jagiellonia Bialystok and got a late yellow card.

Armando Cooper wasn’t in Godoy Cruz’s squad.

Honduras

Maynor Figuroa had a forgettable match for Wigan this weekend. He lined up at center back and inexplicably played a pass back to keeper Joel in the 9th minute that Gareth Bale was able to block into the net. Figueroa was substituted halfway through the first half. Roger Espinoza came on with 10 minutes to play in the match, which finished 2-2.

Osman Chavez was trying to clear a ball in Wisla Krakow’s 1-0 win against Widzew Lodz. His touch was heavy and he lunged in for the ball, but a forward beat him to it. Chavez brought the forward down and was sent off. The incident occurs at the 3:00 mark. Emilio Izaguirre went the full 90 for Celtic in its 3-1 loss to Motherwell. Perhaps the championship hangover was too stern for the Bhoys.

Still no Anderlecht debut for Andy Najar.

Jorge Claros got the start this week for Hibernian and was booked in a 3-3 draw. He played the whole match.

Luis Garrido was Red Star Belgrade’s defensive midfielder in a 1-0 win against Donji Srem.

Carlo Costly and Veria’s season is over.

Costa Rica

Keylor Navas again was Levante’s starting keeper, but its skid continues. The team dropped its fourth-straight result, this time losing 1-0 to Celta Vigo.

The two Costa Ricans in the Premier League faced off, or rather their teams did. Bryan Ruiz went the distance for Fulham but didn’t have his best match ever in the 1-0 loss to Everton. Bryan Oviedo rode the pine for the Toffees.

Joel Campbell started and went 59 minutes in a 3-1 loss to Real Madrid. He manned the left side for Real Betis.

Celso Borges played all of AIK’s 3-3 draw against Halmstad.

Christian Bolaños played 90 minutes for Copenhagen in a scoreless affair with AGF.

Aalesund beat Valerenga 2-1 with Michael Barrantes in midfield. Valerenga players Diego Calvo and Giancarlo Gonzalez were unused substitutes.

Mexico

Carlos Vela’s Real Sociedad and Andres Guardado’s Valencia played the Sunday nightcap with Vela’s team coming out on top. He started and went wire to wire on the right wing for Sociedad. Guardado wasn’t among the starters for a second week, but he did come on in midfield in the 76th minute of the 4-2 defeat. Chicharito got in for Manchester United in garbage time of its 1-1 match at Arsenal.

There’s no ‘R’—or ‘D’ in this case—next to Mallorca’s name yet, but Gio dos Santos’ club couldn’t eek out a needed win against Zaragoza. Gio had an assist, setting up a Tomer Hemed header for the match’s opening tally, but the home side ended up winning 3-1.

Espanyol was on the wrong end of a 1-0 scoreline. Hector Moreno made one superb tackle to prevent Granada from getting in, but couldn’t stop a first half goal. Moreno also had a header saved.

Guillermo Ochoa and Ajaccio had two matches this week. The first was a tough defeat with European contenders Saint-Etienne rolling it, 4-2. Ajaccio made up for the loss this weekend, and Memo had a terrific match in his club’s 2-1 victory against Montpellier, saving a panenka attempt. Javier Aquino missed Villarreal’s match with a knee injury for the second straight week. His coach, Marcelino, hopes to have him back soon for the home stretch.
