Everyone began the year chasing MLS Cup but only two teams are left to battle it out; the World Cup draws ever closer and Brazil is taking some steps to prepare; Mix Diskerud ftw.

On a chilly night in Portland, Real Salt Lake defeated the Timber 1-0 thanks to a Robbie Findley goal. The away side won 5-2 on aggregate and will play Sporting Kansas City in MLS Cup.
SKC won 2-1 thanks to a Dominic Dwyer goal in the 63rd minute off a Benny Feilhaber assist.
Before the Western Conference final, ASN caught up with the Timbers' Darlington Nagbe. Worth a read, even if he won't be playing anytime soon. Of potentially playing for the American squad: "I follow the U.S., especially when some of my teammates or guys I know will be playing. I make a great effort to watch their games."
Mix Diskerud, now with more laser beam shots:
Brazil's president thinks the military needs to be involved with the Rio games. Cool story. "Last week General Azevedo was confirmed at a ceremony at a military base in Rio. He was supported by four more Generals and a Navy Admiral. This is not a military coup. After the debacle of Ricardo Teixeira and the vast expense of next year’s World Cup, [President] Dilma is making the point that sports officials cannot be trusted with public funds. Soldiers are public officials and she can control them."
Speaking of that, 200 days until the World Cup.
