ASN Morning Read: The Roster, Roster, Roster

The 21-player roster for Friday's friendly was released Monday and some people aren't particularly happy with the send-off Landon Donovan is set to receive at Rentschler Field in Hartford.

  • Plenty of thoughts to be had on the 21-player roster for Friday's friendly against Ecuador.

  • Our Brooke Tunstall isn't exactly thrilled with the roster for Landon Donovan's send-off, and thinks America's all-time leading scorer deserves better.

  • It was (accidentally) posted last week, but the 20-player roster for this month’s CONCACAF Women’s Championship is official. Unsurprisingly, Hope Solo is in the squad.

  • Speaking of Solo, Jill Loyden wrote an op-ed for USA TODAY, calling for U.S. Soccer to take action against her fellow goalkeeper. “I believe that individuals are innocent until proven guilty, but in failing to take action against players' behavior off the field, the league is not living up to its responsibilities,” Loyden wrote. “U.S. Soccer needs to send the right message. They need to communicate that domestic violence is never OK and that it will not be tolerated.”

  • Tim Howard wants more American goalkeepers in England. “The attributes required to be a top level Premier League goalkeeper are the same ones required to be the prototypical American athlete,” Howard said. “We've found some sort of a niche. I'm getting old now, and we need more guys to come through."

  • Maybe Blake Griffin could answer Howard's call?

  • Rubio Rubin in an Eredivisie Team of the Weekend.
