Miami-Dade County’s mayor offered a counter-proposal to David Beckham’s group, which involves filling in a massive boat slip next to AmericanAirlines Arena to create enough land for a stadium. Miami has sunk (no pun intended) more than $10 million into renovations of/around the slip in the past decade, so expect some blowback from the public on this latest idea.
The U.S. women will play friendlies against France on June 14 in Tampa and June 19 in Hartford. The Americans are 13-0-1 all-time against France and the last two meetings were in the 2011 World Cup semifinals (a 3-1 win) and in group play at the 2012 Olympics (a 4-2 win).
