  • After months of preparation, the United States women take the field tonight (6:30ET; Fox Sports 1) for their opening World Cup match against Australia: "The U.S. holds a record of 22-0-2 against Australia, and has outscored them 83-20 throughout its history. With a series that dates back to 1987, the USA has shut out the Matildas on 10 occasions, allowed one goal 10 times, and only allowed two or more goals during four meetings between the two countries."

  • Meanwhile, Hope Solo: "Hope Solo's checkered personal life came under further scrutiny on Sunday, sparking a fresh wave of controversy surrounding the United States goalkeeper just a day before the start of the team's Women's World Cup campaign. Solo was the subject of an ESPN/Outside The Linesreport that claimed she was belligerent and used profane language towards police, threatened to attack officers and taunted them about her wealth during an arrest on domestic violence charges in June 2014."

  • Six thoughts about that crazy win over The Netherlands. And player ratings. And three more thoughts.

  • The U.S. U-23 team beats England in the third-place match of the Toulon tournament. Alonso Hernandez and Benji Joya tallied goals from the spot.

  • Blatter gone.
  • This is fun:
