  • An excellent lead in this story about Chris Rolfe's gamewinner last night: "The way D.C. United head coach Ben Olsen talks about Chris Rolfe, you’d think he was describing a bottle of fine wine. Refined. Classy. Balanced. Smooth." The goal is at the end of these highlights:
  • Frank Lampard: The Chelsea legend, who is spending the 2014-15 English Premier League season with Manchester City, will earn an annual base salary of $6 million according to the terms of the 1.5-year NYCFC deal he signed in January, a source with knowledge of the contract told SI.com. Lampard’s wages will be pro-rated this season. He’ll then earn the full $6 million in 2016, as well as a marketing bonus.

  • Some interesting thoughts about the MLS Discovery process from Sebastian Lletget's agent:
  • Everything you wanted to know about Desevio Payne.

  • Gedion: "Five months since becoming a U.S. citizen, the 18-year-old Arsenal midfielder who honed his game in the D.C. area was cleared by FIFA on Wednesday to play for the United States. His first assignment is the Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand, which will begin May 30.... USSF coaches and officials have played down expectations about Zelalem, who has limited experience playing on the first-team club level and international forum. They see him as a genuine prospect, but as one source said, 'we can't predict the future.'" Glad we cleared that up.
