John Godfrey, who remembers slights with Richard Sherman-like zeal, explains why Aron Johannsson will start against Ghana in Brazil: "Johannsson is the most clinical striker in the U.S. player pool, and by a wide margin. Jozy Altidore is officially streaky, and often stone-footed, and he requires high-quality service to produce goals. I have no idea who or what Clint Dempsey is right now."
Grant Wahl catches up with Juan Agudelo who talks about the shock of not receiving a work permit: "I thought it was a prank from my agent. I had to keep asking him: ‘No, seriously, tell me the truth, what happened? What happened? What happened?’ Guys have gotten work permits with [fewer] caps and minutes. It was shocking, to say the least." International soccer can be a cruel mistress.
