ASN Morning Read: A Win Is a Win Is a Win

The United States Under-20 squad doesn't make it look pretty, but they get the job done, and really, that's all that matters; they have a chance to reach the next round with a good result in their next match.

  • The U-20s squad conceded an early goal to Haiti but stormed back for four in the second half, three from Brooks Lennon, to win, 4-1.

  • Here's your game-winner, courtesy of Luca de La Torre. Hey, they all count the same:
  • "We're going to progress every game that we play here, and get better and better every time we step on the field," Lennon said. "I think we just need to keep playing together and keep moving forward and we’ll get wins."

  • "The U.S. will win Group B on Friday if it defeats St. Kitts & Nevis and Haiti upsets Panama (and the U.S. scores enough to prevail on goal differential). But Panama will win the group if it wins or draws against Haiti—a very likely outcome." In that case, the Americans would still advance to the next round, but be drawn into a more difficult group. The top two teams from each group in the next phase advance to the U-20 World Cup later this year.

  • This is a good shirt:
  • High praise for DeAndre Yedlin: "Making 19 appearances so far for the Magpies, scoring one goal for the side, Yedlin has been a revelation down the right-hand side for Rafa Benitez this season. Pacy, powerful with an eye for goal and an even better eye for a cross, Yedlin is now arguably the best right-back in the Championship, proving his worth several times over. "
