  • Major League Soccer revealed its 2014 schedule and the big news here is a two-week break during the World Cup. They won't play between June 12 and 24. Obviously, that’s a sigh of relief for teams with U.S. internationals, but Honduras and Costa Rica also figure to have a few MLS players on their World Cup squads.

  • Tim Simon looks at six Americans players playing in England’s second division and sizing up the odds that any of them can crack the World Cup squad. Eric Lichaj and Tim Ream both got called up in the latter half of 2013, but can Reading’s Danny Williams find his way back into the picture?

  • As Carlos Vela’s absence from the Mexican team continues, GIovani Dos Santos admits he’s in the dark as to why Vela hasn’t played for El Tri since 2011. "It is a difficult subject, which is between Vela and the federation," Dos Santos said. "I do not know his motives.” Interim manager Miguel Herrera says he’ll seek out Vela if he’s named skipper on a permanent basis.

  • In Monday games, Brad Guzan and Aston Villa rallied back to claim a 2-2 draw with West Brom. In Italy, Michael Bradley played the final nine minutes of Roma’s 0-0 draw with Cagliari, the team’s third consecutive draw.

  • Jermaine Jones and Schalke are in action in the Champions League today against Steaua Bucuresti. Schalke sits second in the group with six points, behind Chelsea with nine.

  • Landon Donovan will be helping out with FOX Sports’ Champions League coverage this week, and along with Gary Payton, seems to have been a part of getting FOX Sports Live’s Donovan McNabb a birthday cake.
