- Whitecaps rookie defender Tim Parker is having a stellar rookie season and the 22-year-old has his sights set on a spot with the Olympic team.
- Cody Cropper is out four-to-six weeks after knee surgery, jeopardizing his role Olympic qualifying. Fortunately, Zack Steffen and Ethan Horvath are capable replacements for the U-23s.
- Due to a labor dispute, the Australia women's national team pulled out of two friendlies this month against the U.S. The Aussies will be replaced by Haiti in Detroit on Sept. 17 and Birmingham on Sept. 20.
