The U.S. Deserved It
Ghana Was the Better Team
The Yanks Are Advancing U.S. Still Won't Move On
My balls itch — Lindsay Lohan
If Mexico win today, and you guys beat Portugal and Aleman we will see you in the next round beeches — Chepo
HUEVOS!!! — eggs
The USMNT definitely deserved it, and I also believe they will advance on goal difference after a tie against Portugal, but they definitely need to pick up their game a little if they want to make any sort of dent in this tournament. Playing with your back against the wall for almost 90 minutes is going to wear them down. Play a more possessional game - keep away from Portugal - and the spoils will be ours. GO USA!!!! — Isaac Selchaif
^^^^^^^^^ Gay — Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Even if we lose Altidore for the rest of our games I am still very confident in this group. We'll grab another 3 points from Portugal and play for first a few days later. — Steve
Not pretty, but a deserving win with strong defense and goalkeeping. — Dana Cogswell
considering the injuries and the opponent the win was well-earned. — Gray Hobbs
My balls hang to my ankles and I have horrible roids. — Clint Eastwood
Lack of possession concerning, but intentional. US seemed determined not to play to Ghana's strength (counter-attacking) and forced them to play against their strengths. Expect a more aesthetically pleasing game from the US against Portugal. — Pwyll
<----Bitch nigga — Abigail Breslin
Portugal did themselves in, so we have a clear path to the knockout stages. A Germany win and US win gets us through, a tie gives us very good odds. Ghana looked second half, but when it mattered, just did not have the quality to take us down. 'Murica — Sheen Yen
The heavily injured US managed to defeat a Fast Ghanaian team by neutralizing their main threats: counters and down the center runs. Meanwhile, Portugal is imploding and Ghana would have to beat Germany to hope to advance. — Maria
I want to facefuck Landon — Louis CK
Very exciting match. So happy for the USA! — Barry
Survive and advance... — Jeff
A win is a win. — Keith
The opponent and circumstances called for an ugly approach. It worked. With Pepe and Coentrao out and Portugal having risk everything to win, I see the US having a very good chance of getting a result. — soccerjohn
We'll beat Portugal. — KD
The US should be able to win or at least draw against a Coentrao, Almeida, Pepe-less Portugal. Coupled with, hopefully, a German win over Ghana, and maybe even a draw against a German side that rests its' stars, I'm feeling really good about Merica. — Matt C
sure, they Ghanians played better in terms of dominating, but grit earned the points and that matters too. — jordi
I'll suck dick for some lessons on how not to look like an awkward twat on camera. — Landon Donovan
I'll take it. — Xose
Great team effort! — Approved Student
well earned team effort. — me
I don't think Ghana did all that much better. They were pretty evenly matched. If Ghana really was that much better, they would have won, and they didn't. They basically had one play and tried it over and over again. — Mark
We played well considering the circumstances but it's still an uphill battle to advance. I say we barely move on. — Jeff
3 points are 3 points, we'll take 'em. An early goal can do weird things to a game, so I'm not as worried as some other people about this performance. More concerned about injuries. — Alex
Bradley had a bad day, but I'm confident he will find his rhythm and kickstart our offense for the next games. Jones was amazing. Dempsey heroic. Very concerned for Altidore and Besler. Well done, USA! — Dmitry
With an improved performance in the next match from Michael Bradley, and with the momentum of the win, the US have put themselves in a good position to advance. — Kurt
Classic smash and grab puts us in a good spot to advance! — KJ
We'll see... — Brian
Ghana probably was the better team but I think we deserved it if that makes any sense. Probably not. Injuries and dead legs are big concerns going forward. Portugal looked awful today but are still quite capable of beating us. Lose that one and we're probably headed home days later. — Brian
While we won, we didn't look great. I'll take the three point (duh) but I want to see us play a complete game before I get excited! — E$
The US played well in the first half but were much more conservative in the 2nd. Ghana held the ball but had no creativity or effectiveness with the one idea they did have (whipping in crosses from the right). If two out of the three of AJ, CD and MB play better we'll make it through. — Tom
We won, but what a price we paid. Our boys looked absolutely dreadful in possession (afraid of the ball MB looked) and offensively, after the 31 second mark it felt like a gigantic step backwards for US possession football, on the order of 2006 proportions where we were lucky to have Clint Dempsey's lone moment of brilliance against Ghana. Against our least accomplished foe this tournament that much was very worrisome, but perhaps more worrisome were the frequent and ubiquitous non-contact muscle injuries that seemed to plague half the team at one point or another. Was this over or under conditioning? Or the conditions? Both? Hopefully the US hasn't peaked too soon. — 1st Time Caller
ghana played the better game but the US took a huge step forward with the 3 points — zack
US was outplayed by a more skillful team, but US defense was up to the challenge. IMO, JAB should be starting. — MyOwnBobbleHead
a win is a win is a win — jt
WOOOOOOOOO!!!!! — Sean
hit it and quit it — drew
Us would have had more possession with Donovan and more attack, taking pressure of of the defense. — Ginrummy
Ghana dominated the game and the US escaped with 3 points. With Jozy injured and Bradley playing poorly, the US lacks a consistent ability to score and there's little hope to contain an aggressive attacking threat from Portugal or Germany against our back line.
grit and grind — t
If you'd've told me that Bradley would have a horrific game, our backline would be under pressure for 90 minutes, and we'd win, I'd've asked you what you're smoking. We stole those points like we're going to steal 2nd place. Portugal? You're next. — Christopher
i hate bunker ball. usa won the group last world cup...the bar has been raised. semi-finals or better to call it a success. — adam
We still have a lot of work to do to advance, but are in the correct position from which to do that work. Most of that work is simply "play better" because we weren't good enough last night, especially in midfield. Wondo and Zusi better turn up. — KXRTI
Sure Ghana made us lose all our fingernails, but how coud you not be happy — EZ
Sincerely, Ghana was the better. Luck was just on our side. — Garry
ghana played better, but we got the win. huge 3 points, now need to tie portugal and its clear sailing — john brooks
This team will not win another game. — Shark
Does anyone hate the Jews as much as I do? — Natalie Portman
<<<-- My enemies are Jews, Secret Jews, and CIA rats who work for the Jews — Bobby Fischer
Ghana Dominated...and The US still wins. Score an early goal against depleted Portugal, watch them combust, and the us are through — szw
