Yay! Now I just need to travel 15 years in the future to reap the benefits. — Sean
<----The good news is that we have a method for traveling forward in time. It just takes a while; 15 years to travel 15 years. ;) — Traveler
It' huge news because it keeps FIFA alive. UEFA won't bolt now. FIFA can carry merrily on being (slightly less) corrupt. — Brian D
Big deal, not sure what will come next, but assume that at a minimum they'll be more careful about their graft. — Matt
#BobLey4Prez — MG

Due to the amount of scrutiny it will now have on it, it will be hard for FIFA to NOT improve. That being said, the whole lot of them are pretty corrupt so it's hard to be optimistic. They'll likely just find different ways to be corrupt. — Mark
lots of work still left to do to fix FIFA — Mike22
Its definitely huge news but it could get more huge if he gets indicted as well. I'm optimistic things can change but it is completely contingent on who replaces Blatter, how many more heads roll, and whether public pressure holds. If any of those don't turn out right then little is likely to change but conditions are ripe so I'm going to be optimistic until my hopes and dreams get shattered. — wandmdave
Improvement depends on who they hire — Andrew Moore
Septic will scheme. — Luis
There's still a lot to do and reorganizing the world sport is uncharted waters, but least something is in motion now and it has been brought to the attention to people outside soccer. — Mo
I have huge hopes that this will improve the corruption within Fifa but will remain cautiously optimistic — Rick
Like most organaizations that go through a shift in management. Improvement is forthcoming but ultimately the temptation will prevail within the next 5 years. — Daniel
He has NOT resigned at this time. He has said in previous years he would do one more presidential term and at least twice now he's stayed. Until it happens, I don't believe it. Until more news comes out about how bad FIFA and the people behind it is, its still corrupt and then the process to elect another president could still be corrupt. I wish for the best but expect the same. — Adrian
<---Amen, brother — Lou Cutri
While symbolically important, Blatter's resignation does nothing to address the underlying problem that kept him in office and fostered systemic corruption--FIFA's voting rules. In fact, this will have been the worst possible result if public pressure wanes and not substantive change is made. — Pwyll
Meh. One jowly rich white guy in a suit who makes money in poor countries hands over to another jowly rich white guy in a suit so he can make money in poor countries. Film at 11. — Christopher
<<<----What this guy said. — Jowly White Rich Guy
I have a difficult time being hopeful! — Tim Sas
I think Jabba the Sepp has orchestrated his exit to keep his people and structure in power. It won't be without a struggle, but the establishment will remain in power via one of JtS's cronies. JtS himself will set up in Qatar or some other wealthy, first-world place that won't extradite him. — KXRTI
could this be something politically motivated and international in scope? of course not since it is headed by the U.S. the most corrupt country on earth. — b to the rent
Sepp has made statements since that this is a goof — Nigga Jones
I have not resigned... YET. And I never will. — Sepp is Time
<-- What does this guy get when he is proved right? — Prizes
Sepp is trolling the international media and the US authorities. He has not resigned. — Jepp
Also, I think it is time for a new sounds off. since no one is sounding any longer. but we are not out of the woods yet, sepp is still here. watching. waiting. biding his time. eating at his favorite patisseries. snuffing out corruption left and right, oh yes. — Jabba Dabba
