U.S. SOCCER FORMALLY ANNOUNCED a men’s national team friendly that has been rumored for weeks: The American men will host Peru on September 4 at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C.

Jurgen Klinsmann’s squad will face a stern test from a Peru team that is coming off a third place finish at this summer’s Copa America after a hard-fought 2-1 semifinal loss to eventual champions Chile.

It will be the first time the U.S.has faced Peru since February 16, 2000, when the Yanks came away with a 1-0 victory in a friendly in Miami. The teams have faced off five times over the years, with each holding a 2-2-1 record.

It will be the 23rd time the U.S. has played at RFK Stadium, and the team's record at the venue is 14-3-5. In its most recent contest at the dilapidated stadium the U.S. defeated Germany 4-3 in a high-profile friendly to celebrate U.S. Soccer’s 100th anniversary.
