Clint Dempsey has signed a two-month loan deal with Fulham, and in January will return to the site of his greatest club success, according to Zapsortz.com.

Dempsey, who plays for Major League Soccer's Seattle Sounders, scored 50 goals in 184 appearances for the London-based club between 2007 and 2012. Citing his ambition to play in the Champions League, Dempsey left Fulham for Tottenham last summer, but then left England in favor of Seattle after just one season.

Fulham was one of four destinations considered likely for the U.S. international, who is looking to stay in form during MLS's long winter break.

If the report proves to be true, Dempsey should slot right into the Cottagers' starting lineup. Fulham is currently in 18th place, and if the competition ended today it would be relegated to England's second tier. Fulham has scored just 14 goals in 15 league matches, and has a goal differential of -12.

Making matters worse for the club, top striker Dimitar Berbatov is rumored to be leaving during the January transfer window.
