Real Salt Lake are taking their time developing young midfield star Luis GIl. And that's just fine with the kid.
“I’m still only 18. I still have a lot ahead of me and a lot of work to do. Right now, I’m just trying to be the best player I can be. Obviously, it’s a good thing to be compared to Landon Donovan, but I’m just trying to be the best player I can be right now," he told Sports Talk Florida.
Speaking of Luis Gil and RSL, they play Thursday night, but there are three MLS playoff matches tonight. Create your own Starting XI for each one.
Amobi Okugo, who will be watching MLS playoffs from home, thinks the Seattle Sounders are the pick: "I think they finally made the right adjustments to get over the hump and win the championship. Coach Sigi Schmid has the team playing wonderful soccer and I believe their experience from past failure in the playoffs and this year’s U.S. Open Cup will help them overcome adversity this go around."
Sacha Kljestan and Jermaine Jones went the full 90 in their team's respective Champions League matches on Tuesday. Jones, predictably, earned a yellow card, while Kljestan, predictably, picked up an assist. Michael Parkhurst and Nordsjælland go Wednesday afternoon against Juventus.
Terrence Boyd: always ready.
The United States moves up to 27th in the world rankings, sandwiched between Norway and Mali. Mexico also jumps five spots, to 14.
