Apparently there was an NFL game on TV last night. We didn't follow it—around here we prefer a different breed of futbol—but some U.S. national team players watched as Johnny Unitas and the Baltimore Colts took on Colin Wondolowski and the San Francisco Earthquakes.

New York Red Bulls midfielder and first ballot USMNT Social Media Hall of Famer Dax McCarty pre-gamed in Midtown Manhattan at one of the best musicals of the 21st century—The Book of Mormon. (ASN saw it with the original cast, but we're sure that Adrian Zmed and Richard Greico are just as good as Andrew Rannells and Josh Gad.)

After watching the matinee, McCarty tweeted during the Super Bowl that he was "Wacko for Flacco," whatever that means.

He wasn't alone in his desire to convey to the world that he was one of 375 billion carbon-based life forms watching the Super Bowl last night. Jozy Altidore, Herculez Gomez, Carlos Bocanegra, Brad Evans, Maurice Edu, Heath Pearce, Joe Gyau, Lee Nguyen, Stuart Holden and many more tweeted about the national anthem, the coin toss, the commercials, the Ray Lewis dance, and, oh yeah, the game. The important business of today, of course, is THE ROSTER. We're expecting Jurgen Klinsmann to announce the 23 (+/-2) players for the Hexagonal opener in Honduras some time this morning. Donovan is a No. Besler is an emphatic Yes. And three points on the road to start the Hex would be huge.
