In the Western Conference playoffs, the Seattle Sounders made it interesting but couldn't overcome a three-goal deficit in front of 45,000 at CenturyLink. Landon Donovan missed the match, although he is not too badly injured. "If it was a cup final today, Landon probably would have played. But we wanted to try to do the smart thing," the coach said.
Omar Gonzalez struggled but Eddie Johnson looked wonderful. Jozy Altidore was impressed
On the other side of the bracket, the Houston Dynamo drew 1-1 with D.C. United, which was good enough to send them to Home Depot Center on December 1 to face the Galaxy.
Speaking of playoffs, Tijuana reaches the semifinals of Liga MX. Edgar Castillo played the full 90, while Greg Garza jumped on for the final 19. Joe Corona was not in the 18. Alejandro Guido, another American playing in Tijuana, handled the photography duties.
Carlos Bocanegra, who tore his hamstring against Russia and will be out for six weeks, is back on the grind. A month and a half puts his return sometime in early January. Will he be ready for the first match of the Hexagonal against Honduras?
