Jozy Altidore Starts, Scores For Sunderland in Cup

Given a start in Tuesday's Capital One Cup match against Stoke City, Altidore scored a beautiful goal in the 16th minute to give the Black Cats a short-lived 1-0 lead.

OK, SURE—IT WASN'T a Premier League contest, but we're pretty sure Jozy Altidore will be quite happy with this lovely goal he produced in Tuesday's Capital One Cup match against Stoke City.

And he should be happy. Given the limited opportunities he has received so far this season—just four substitute appearances for a grand total of 53 minutes played in the English top flight—all Altidore can do is take advantage of his opportunities and give Gus Poyet a reason to start him more often. The strike below could do just that.
